FAQs about Boiler Repair
Is there anything I can do to fix the boiler myself?
Yes, there are some basic checks which may save you from a callout and having no heating or hot water!!
Check you have gas in your property by trying any other appliances, like a fire or hob. If you have no gas, then check the lever at your gas meter hasn't been accidentally knocked.
If the weather is freezing and your boiler condensate waste pipe is outside, then try pouring some warm (not boiling!) water on it. If this is an ongoing problem, then please get in touch, as there are solutions available.
If your boiler has a fault code, then make a note of it with a photo, if possible and a time. You can then reset the boiler (the procedure can be found in your user instructions), and it may resolve your issue. If it persists, then please get in touch with us.
If you find your boiler usually has a display/lights on, but they seem to have gone out, check your electrical isolation switch, which is usually located near the boiler. This may have been knocked into the off position and is quite a common callout for us!
What information should I have ready when I book an engineer to fix my boiler?
To help us diagnose the issue faster, please have the make and model of your boiler ready (e.g., Worcester Bosch Greenstar i). If there is a specific fault code (like F22 or E1) flashing on the display, let us know.
How do I know if my boiler needs repair or replacement?
Ignite Gas & Heating engineers assess the boiler’s age, condition, and fault severity. Most faults can be repaired, but if the system is unsafe or inefficient, we will advise whether a replacement is more suitable.
Can you repair my boiler if it is leaking water?
Our engineers can identify the source of leaks, replace faulty components, and restore safe operation.
Does a boiler repair include a full service?
Boiler repair focuses on fixing a specific fault to get your heating back on. Boiler service is a preventative health check for the whole system. If your boiler is due a service, then we can add it onto the quote to repair, which can then be done at the same time.
Do you repair all types of boilers?
Our Gas Engineers work on all major makes and models and carry out repairs on older and newer systems on conventional and combi boilers, which covers the vast majority of domestic homes.
We unfortunately cannot work on commercial boilers or systems which fall within this scope. Please call us if you are unsure.
